I am having one of those days where I am between crying and pulling my hair out. It may be because of my hormonal state…. (Watch my Wednesday Wellness on Hormones https://youtu.be/ RQ3y2MGc4BE) or if it is this major move and life change I just took…or maybe it’s because we were locked in our houses for 6 months.
I am sure you have some of this going on in your life or have or will have. Whether you are a middle aged woman, a new mom, a stressed out parent, have a busy career, or retired or laid off, we all have periods when we want to cry or pull out our hair.
Today was one of those days for me, but I did a few things that helped me and I feel like I am getting my peace back. Here they are. I hope they help you, too.
1) Stop, listen, and figure out what is giving you the anxiety or stress. I kept hearing this little GOD voice say stop and listen…. “What is making you anxious? What is causing this heaviness on your chest? What can you clear out to stop some of the tension?
So I figured out I had an appointment later that day that totally stressed me because my life wasn’t prepared for another thing. I was overcapacity as Dani Johnson’s training teaches. So I politely canceled it and immediately the stress was cut down by 50%.
2) Do you have to do everything, or do priorities need to be rearranged even if it is for a day, a week or months?
I have my best days homeschooling my kids and working my business when I have the freedom and time to do that. Cleaning, cooking, taking care of my kids, managing a home, organizing finances, setting up the new home we moved into and doing my 2 jobs of homeschool mom and working in my home business are too much for me mentally and physically.
So my choices are don’t do it all and or delegate. So I did.
My kids could play legos, watch PBS Kids, play outside, and get their own food while I set up our home and I AM NOT A BAD MOM. I will delegate more of my tasks just like that amazing PROVERBS 31 woman did!
Speaking of bad mom…I think mom guilt is pretty rampant these days. Talking to a friend she said I know I should feel grateful to be able to be home with my kids, but I feel like I can’t be productive. You know God made us all different and some of us are wired to accomplish and produce at a high level. I do believe everyone needs to feel value in their day to day and work, (my opinion) and work can be taking care of a loved one, kids, spouse, parents, home, serving others or a church or mission and the list goes on. The point being, it doesn’t have to be something that financially rewards you.
3) Read about the Proverbs 31 woman (it’s in the Bible Book of Proverbs Chapter 31). It will help you see a woman who didn’t suffer from guilt.
See some of us need the value and self satisfaction that working a job or business gives us and/or the financial rewards. Don’t you think God gave you that desire, those gifts, those skills. The Proverbs 31 woman was that highly productive woman. She managed a lot and got to enjoy the fruits of her labor. She had staff that helped her, her businesses and work produced great wealth that allowed her to give to the poor and take care of the needy. She new that she needed to take care of her body to stay strong, to eat well, to keep, study and live God’s Word and promises. She prospered because of that.
I have been blessed to have some private mentorship this year. My coach has given me 2 main areas to work on.
#1) What are you doing that you really don’t need to be doing?
#2) How can you simplify?
See this doesn’t mean I can’t be a Proverbs 31 woman, but it does mean for my constitution, season of life, and priorities I must simplify and delegate. I must let others in my life and those I bring on to help me step up and take over some things. I must re-evaluate almost weekly on how I can simplify things so that that wonderful FREEDOM and PEACE I so love and flourish with can be a part of life most days.
I hope this message has helped you, too. Next step…PRINT out these words SIMPLIFY and maybe DELEGATE and post them all over your house.
Oh and don’t forget to watch this 4 minute video www.whatsunderyoursink.com and let me know what you learned from it. I have a solution to help you simplify what’s under your sink in the kitchen and bathroom. If you watch it and need it let me know and we will help you.
